Vrede en Lust is Dutch and means “Peace and Eagerness”. The history of Vrede en Lust goes back to 1688 to the founder Jaques de Savoye. Since 1996 Vrede en Lust is a family owned and managed wine business. The farm has been transformed and now boasts award winning wines and was the winner of the 2006 Wine Capitals of the World competition. This stunning wedding venue in Franschhoek Cape Town South Africa offers an elegant and tranquil setting for the wedding of your dreams. The architecture is classical Cape Dutch and the undulating vineyards, gardens and breathtaking mountain scenery make this a fantastic wedding venue. The service is first class and Yolanda’s attention to detail, friendly disposition and professionalism makes Vrede en Lust the ideal location for your wedding. Vrede en Lust will be exclusively yours for the day, giving you the option of changing venues for each function. VENUE & ACCOMMODATION PACKAGES FOR WEDDING PARTIES ON WEEKENDS: The accommodation and venue is offered as a wedding package from Friday to Sunday. 1 x Day Package @ R 55 000 inc VAT 2 x Day Package @ R 70 000 inc VAT 3 x Day Package @ R 88 000 inc VAT 4 x Day Package @ R104 000 inc VAT The rate includes the following:
VENUE HIRE FOR MIDWEEK WEDDINGS: The venue is available for hire during the week @ R29 000 inc VAT. The venue fee is non negotiable and only from Monday to Thursday The rate includes the following:
SETTING –UP OF VENUE/S This can be started on the day before the wedding if it is practically possible. Speak to our coordinating staff should you or a third party working on your behalf, have any special needs with regards to décor, power or access to the premises. THE CEREMONY Should you wish to use Vrede en Lust as the venue for your ceremony, we can provide you the location free of charge. This would however not include furniture or décor. We do make use of various rental companies and can gladly advise you on your set-up requirements. This will be for your own account. CATERING All catering will be arranged by Vrede en Lust in conjunction with the client. We have a wide variety of menus for you to choose from (prices are subject to seasonality ) and our chef’s are flexible to cater to your needs should you need to make changes to our menus. Final number of guest and menu need to be confirmed 14 days in advance of the function date. KOSHER & HALAAL catering will be outsourced to a preferred supplier in Cape Town and there will be an additional hiring fee of R8 000 for using the kitchen facilities. This fee also includes corkage on Kosher wines should VNL wines not be consumed at the wedding. TIME The venue is available until 13H00 for breakfast, 17H30 for lunch, 21H00 for a cocktail party or until 01h00 for a dinner. The Host will be entitled in event of a dinner to extend the Function until 02h00 at an additional charge of R 4 000.00 (Four thousand rand), which will be payable by the Host to VNL immediately at the end of the function. It should be noted that the cut off time for music is 24h00 should the music be staged outside the Historic cellar in order to minimise the impact for VNL’s neighbours. WAITERS A professional waitering service from Cape Town is used. They do make a significant contribution to the success of a function. Their rate is R70.00 per person per hour, plus transport costs of R150.00 per four person shuttle. (subject to change, outside contractors ) BEVERAGES Wine : VnL will charge a corkage of R60.00 per bottle of wine or champagne (other than VNL wines or champagne) as per attached list. Bar Service : Provided by VnL - setup cost R3 500.00 (Inc VAT). This rate includes two barmen for the evening, ice, hi-ball, water and shooter glasses as well at the transport fee. The choice of an open bar or cash bar is to be confirmed by the bridal couple. ( Subject to change, outside contractors ) ACCOMMODATION Jonkmanshuis : Barbere: 2 double bedrooms, spacious lounge and kitchenette (Subject to availability, only to be rented as a unit) Marguerite: 2 double bedrooms and spacious lounge (Subject to availability, only to be rented as a unit) Jacques: 2 double bedrooms and spacious lounge (Subject to availability, only to be rented as a unit)
Manor house : 5 bedrooms ( 4 x Double & 1 Twin ) and all the luxuries you could wish for (Subject to availability, only to be rented as a unit)
BOOKING AND PAYMENT Should you decide to book with us, your function date will be reserved for 14 days. During this period Vrede en Lust requires a deposit of 50% of the venue/package fee. If no deposit is received within this period, the booking will automatically be cancelled and the venue will be made available to other clients. The deposit becomes non-refundable 30 days from the reservation date. The balance of the function fees will become due and payable 30 days prior to the function. CO-ORDINATING Yolanda from Vrede en Lust will be able to assist you in coordinating the event. A non negotiable fee of R4000 will be charged incurred by Yolanda on behalf of the bridal couple.
